We are going to install the Unifi Controller to manage our access points. After reset, use the Ubiquiti Default Username & Password to login into USG Pro-4. I downloaded the image, etcher, and flashed the same micro sd card (SanDisk HC 16GB class 10) I had success with on Friday. I had a moment today and attempted to start from scratch, this time using my desktop instead of laptop (laptop on wifi on friday worked fine with RPi 3B+ connected to switch). All the devices will have to be physically factory reset by holding the reset pin, and all network configurations will have to be recreated on the new server. There is some forum posts on the Ubiquiti forums, but the procedure is not supported or officially documented in any way, the posts on the forums are also missing some required details I found.
As these were just tests, I didn’t actually use it to control my Unifi products (USG, Switch 8-150w, UAP-AP-PRO, and an UAP-IW). No access to device SSH credentials, backups, or UniFi controller. I was recently in a situation where I needed to reset a forgotten Ubiquiti UniFi controller password. I then decided to give it a try on a 3B+ last friday, and less than 15 minutes I was able to log into Webmin and setup the Unifi controller side. Well, I’ve tested this on an original RPi B model, and works fine, but a tad on the slow side of course (single core).
